My first was a T/C Northwest Explorer.

It's barrel twist rate is 1/48 which is not good for sabots. Most agree that a 1/28 twist is better for sabots. With sabots, my bullets were actually flying sideways through the paper. And its hammer is pot metal; mine broke twice. And it tends to.....not go off when you pull the trigger. It will almost always fire on the second try though.

Maybe she likes a little foreplay.

I tried many things to improve the reliability. Setting the cap tight...setting the cap loose...Different brands of caps...different nipples...Backing out the breech plug a bit to bring the cap closer to the hammer...sending it back to T/C....making sure the firing pin was lubed up and sliding good..etc.... Click....
So after a day of hunting, we decided to clear our rifles to see if they would have gone off had we had a shot. Click... I was not about to spend the rest of the season wondering if that golden moment would be ruined by that rifle.
I took Sabotloaders advice and bought a Knight Disk Extreme with western kit. It's a whole different class of rifle. You can tell when you pick it up and shoulder it. It's heavy, but I think that makes offhand shots more stable. And it was only $150 more than the T/C Northwest Explorer.

And I shot a cow with it!
