Quick detach scope mounts

I tried to search this and couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any experience using these? Can you actually take the scope off, and put it back on, and the scope still be zeroed? Can't see it working that well but thought it was worth asking. This would be going on a 375 ruger.

There are several companies that make them. I own a scope with them on. I however use it for my 22lr. I have switched it back and forth between 2 of them. Works pretty good. I have to fiddle with re sighting moving it from each rig to the next. Why do you want it? to be able to switch back from iron to scope? You need to have some base that is kinda like the rail system on an AR...

Yeah I just think it might be handy to take the scope off and have iron sights, although most likely the scope would always be left on the rifle.

I've also considered them on my muzzloader since I sometimes hunt in firearm restricted areas where I could use a scope during rifle season.

I used one for a little while on an AR.  Wouldn't fit in the case with the scope attatched so I would take it off when transporting.  I however was not impressed.  I had to adjust some every time.

I had one on each of my H&K 91's and they worked very well.  They were high end mounts and the tolerances were pretty tight.  Never had an issue with them even shooting out past 600 meters.

There are several makers out there with systems for several of the sporter rifles. When moving them from rifle to rifle or putting them back on they were ok for Rockchucks out to 100-200 yards but they did not hold zero well for the long stuff, not worth the hassle. So one day I decided to put a Ken Ferrel 20 MOA base on a long range .300 Win Mag. I then took a set of LaRue Tactical 2-Piece QD (LT808) rings off of a AR-10 I hadn't used in a while. Mounted a Leupold scope in them and gave it a try. I zeroed the rifle at 300 yards and removed the scope and remounted it three times, each time shooting a 5 shot group with Berger 190 VLD's. every shot would have been on Rockchuck laying flat. I did this I guess just out of curiosity because I never had a reason to remove the scope after that until I switched it to a different rifle two or so years later.

I have a Rock River picatinny mount that is very precise.
I literally shot within 1/2moa after re-mounting it.
I have a pair of Talley QD rings that I want to try on a picatinny mount that screws on a Tikka.
Haven't messed with them yet.
I honestly feel better about having a machined base on the rifle instead of adding a rail.

I use the Burris QD rings. Steel, goes on and off without tools, back to the same place so far with no problems. about 50$, have them on several different guns and have for 5 years or so with no problems. Available in different heights as well.

I have them on a number of scopes Leupold, Warn and Weaver QR rings and they all work well.  Sometimes I'll have two different loads for a rifle and just swap presited scopes or carry a presighte backup scope in my gear in case of a fall or scope failure.

Just bringing this back up, I finally got the scope for the ruger and after taking the old one off, I sure like the idea of being able to remove the scope sometimes.

The LaRue mounts look like the way to go, a little spendy though but if thats the price I've got to pay to hold zero, then so be it.

Any other suggestions on brands to look into? Also what about a picatinny rail suggestion that would fit a ruger?

Look at Burris PEPR QD

more for an AR but would give you a jumping off point.

Most of the US style ones simply return to within 1 moa which is cool for most people..... but if you want something super fine, and super accurate go with EAW schwenkmontage.

So I ended up going with some Warne detachable scope mounts. I was very close to having a gunsmith mount some Talley bases on the rifle and use their detachable rings, but after finding the Warne bases and reading some reviews I figured it was worth a shot. The tough part was finding 30mm rings for a ruger, not many places make anything for Ruger in the first place and even less in 30mm.
