Ill take a 7 ultra.
we all ready have a 300 win mag so we are going to something else. i am leaning toward the rum in 300. thanks for the help. more stuff is welcomed. the whole deal is to sell tickets and give the lucky winner a nice elk rifle that will last the rest of his/her life, and might be passed down to his or her heirs. mike w, by the way our rmef banquet is feb. 2 in moses lake and if you want to go pm me and we can arrange it, thank you for watching.
The .300 Ultra is a bruiser cartridge and 90 percent of your hunters can't handle the recoil of one. I can't even count the number of them I have seen return to shops shortly after being purchased. Consignment, traded back or sold back. If a pool of average hunters were involved I would think the 300 WSM would be more desirable.
But look at it this way: with a RUM you get the added benefit of using empty cartridge cases for coffee mugs.

Taking advantage of the RUM's additional power is not easy. The WSM can be more accurately shot by more hunters in my opinion. But look at it this way: with a RUM you get the added benefit of using empty cartridge cases for coffee mugs.
Hell, if you want horsepower, toss a 416 meteor in the mix.
