body gripping traps in washington state
« on: January 15, 2013, 12:23:26 PM »
I was curious if there has been any talk about trying to restore the use of body gripping traps to washington state and if some could tell where to find these discussions. I am heading down to challenge the trapping exam tomorrow in mill creek. Can anyone tell me what the exam entails.

Washington State Trappers Association has been working on getting bodygripping traps back ever since the Initiative passed. We have had a bill in the Legislature to that effect every year since 2000. We actually had a bill pass both houses one year but Governor Lock vetoed it.
It is a difficult nut to crack. I doubt we will ever get everything back. We continue to work on it. I have a meeting about it on the 21st.

In Your opinion Bruce, will our new Governor be easier to work with if it gets to his desk?

Not too many trick questions....   :chuckle:  Pretty much out of the book/manual.

I do not know. It depends on what is in the bill I suppose. We have some tall hurdles before we get that far.

Its a curiosity to me that this is always the standard answer "Pretty much out of the book/manual". No more detail is ever given.

Is it part of the proctored training to tell a person they cannot publically repeat any of the questions on the test, or talk about the test and what it entails? :)

Better yet, a truly helpful person could take their manual/book and highlight all of the text that there were test questions about - then give the manual/book to the person who's about to take the test.  That would really help the person studying to use their time most efficiently, so that they spend their time on those aspects of the manual that are actually going to be on the exam.

Kind of misses the point of a test being a representative sample of ALL the information the student is supposed to know.   :dunno:  When I taught HS Biology, I wanted the students to learn all of the subject matter in the chapter not just a smattering of it but I only asked a representative sample of questions on the chapter test since asking them to regurgitate an entire chapter would take too long.

If a person is worried about having to learn ALL of the rules, maybe they should just read every third page of the regs, in fact the State could save a bunch of money by only printing out part of the regulation book.   :chuckle:

Most tests that are given that state have are multi-choice and alot have common sence questions and questions about what you can and cant do. dont stress yourself out it is not bad just go over the material and you will have no problem. Like you said we can go into a test, but as long as you read over the online book it is pretty easy.

Geez! 90% common sense! How do you study that! Sure glad I was grandfathered in and didn't have to take the test.
