Just gonna stand on my soapbox for a few minutes then I'll step down...
Your voice matters. Don't sit back and wait for someone else to change things. We all need to speak out together.
Case in point - in the last 4 years, after staying informed, hunting, reading, researching, joining the NRA and having honest conversations with family, friends, co-workers I have seen people like my liberal in-laws, co-workers, and even wife change their minds on guns. In fact, my wife's CWP came in the mail today (that's something I never thought would happen) - she no longer believes that gun control is the answer.
People just need to hear the truth. And our world is bombarded with false messages about guns and violence. The only way to change people's perspective is to speak up. Give the facts. Share news articles.
Sure, we need to have empathy and believe me, the Newtown event was a truly sad day. As a father of 2 boys in elementary school, I was horrified that day... but I was also horrified that a young man who was mentally ill took a legally owned gun and used it for murder. It's only been a month since that event, yet how much do we hear about the facts? Where has the investigation gone? What has been done to protect our children? What has been done to change mentally ill people?
Let's flood the internet waves, the airwaves, the TV, YouTube, Twitter, and even more... speak out for the value of the 2nd Amendment and stop hiding under the covers. We have got to speak up and tell our neighbors the truth.
Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
If people kill people...then let's work on the real issue... people. And people need the voice of reason.
Be the Voice of Reason.
