Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all guns registered at time of original purchase? So even if your guns are already registered does that mean you have to reregister them if you move to NY? What happens if you borrow one from a friend?

What happens if you borrow one from a friend?I believe that background check info upon the purchase of a firearm through an FFL is only to be kept for a limited time and then "destroyed" hence the registration upon purchase is not really one. Could be wrong on this and I think some states actually require a permanenet registration like CT.
