Winchester model 70 question
« on: January 28, 2013, 01:36:11 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knew what a 1951 winchester model 70 220 swift in really good condition with raised comb and front hooded sight would sell for. Thanks for any help anyone might have on this.

I'd be a little concerned about the barrel being worn out. You might want to shoot it before buying, if possible. Or have a gunsmith look at it. Unless the price is low enough that it doesn't matter.

Thanks I've heard that before. Can you tell by looking at the barrel?

It takes a bore scope to really see, but a light on a clean bore will show if the throat is ate up real bad.....a bore scope can show the alligator throat that you may not see. If you can get a tight patch through it....and you know what you are feeling for, you can feel bad spots.
