potholes ice report
« on: February 15, 2013, 03:42:19 PM »
Went to check on the ramps and do a little trout fishing. The main lake is open from the E end of medicare alll the way to the state park. All of lind coulee arm is iced over. The ramps at the state park end should be usable by next weekend, oh so close. Oh and 4 hrs of fishing produced 3 trout a 21" and 2- 17s Very healthy but they were all males and are just starting to turn, the biggest was even dripping a bit.

Was this fishing from a boat, if so, what works for trout there? We live in the tri cities but just got a little aluminum boat and were looking for places to try. Thanks

State park launch is free of ice today. Put in around 12:30 and 2 of the 3 were clear. Got fairly windy this afternoon, fished a couple hours with no bites. The wind seemed to be working on the ice so that will help open the other launches. Still a great day on the water and looking forward to the ice leaving.

Thats good, I didnt drive down to it, it looked like a layer of ice out about a hundred yards looking from the public launch. It was howlin last night on my way home from work, blowin me all over the road, got to play tag with the tumble weeds. I lost.  Its been a while since I have had to launch at a state park, do you have to pay to launch or are you good with the discovery pass

Discover pass to park and 7 bucks launch fee. Can't wait for the other launches to de-ice. I prefer to use the east launch next to the dam, but I really wanted to take the boat out.

Ya mine has been hooked to the truck for a week, It will be in the water next week . Thats pretty spendy to launch. They might get more people to use it if they didnt charge so much. you can pretty much launch for free with you licence all over the lake.

Ya I'm not super excited to pay launch fees and discover pass fees, but I wanted on the water. The way I see it I spend a small fortune on fishing gear and boat stuff, so 7 bucks isn't bad once in a while. Honestly, I've lost more than that by breaking off one rigging while salmon fishing. I will try to check the goose lakes this week for ice breakup,
