Smoke (not cigarette) as cover scent

Anybody here have good results using smoke as a cover scent for deer and elk hunting. Obviously wind is most important factor; however, I stink ... and anything helps.

I think he is referring to the smoke sticks that you can buy for cover scents. Light them at your stand and let the smoke do its thing.
I ave not tried them, so I don't know if they work.

Yeah, had a friend tell me about it. I thought he was messing with me, but after some research online, a lot of people swear by it. Not into the sprays and other products (gimmic/ waste of $).

Perked my interest, had to ask. Won't be trying it anytime soon though.

Don't know about smoke sticks. But some years ago I was black powder elk near Bethel. There was 2 ft snow on the ground. I got a little cold and set down under a tree and built a small fire betwen my legs.
Half hour and a six piont bull walked with in 50 feet of me and never raised an eye. I always thought the smoke covered my scent.

Hanging your clothes in the smoke of a fire might not be a bad idea

I would think almost any natural scent would be better than human odor.

I have read that trappers will smoke their traps to rid them of human stink sometimes...

yes I have used it. Not sure if it has helped or not, but I am fairly successful on some of my adventures.
(Natural, no gimmicks)
I'll use it when I am having trouble with wind shifting and I am holding over in a spot.

I put the stalk on a cow elk downwind of me while I was smoking a cigar. She showed no sign of alertness or nervousness and I could see the smoke blowing right at her.
