Judge/Governor opinions
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:37:57 PM »
Looked at both yesterday, reasonably priced, never shot either, seems cool for home defense, any opinions on the them would be helpful.

The Smith does add an extra option, but I have had good luck with my Taurus. I stayed with the 3in 2.5 round, and its plenty enough for the buzzin" worms in EW. As far as a bedside weapon, its my go to w/self defense rounds. Just saying.

I would go with the S&W if you can afford it.  First is shots 45acp/45lc and 410ga.  Second it is made in the USA.  Third there has be a fair amount of Taurus Judges go back to them because they don't work right.  Just my  :twocents:
"Shoot the spike".  It's much easier to pack out!

The Governor is a better built gun.  I have never had one go back.  We have sold about 5 times more taurus judges simply due to availability and pricing and we have had to send a small number of them back for timing issues.  Once that was fixed, we have never had one come back for a 2nd warranty repair.

For defense, look at the Winchester PDX loads.

I just recently saw this video. Hickock45 offers quite a bit of info on different firearms. He does a great job demonstrating the pros and cons.

loook around before you buy at ammo availability and cost of .45lc.. or 2.5 " .410.. not big on stuff you ahve to really look to find ammo for... even before this latest firearmagedon shortage..at least if it shoots .45 acp thats pretty common. If you already load .410 or .45 LC, then its not as big a deal..
