Pull the card and use a card reader. :twocents:

2" ?

What model is it?

Unhook it from the computer, and let the battery discharge

20D uses a CF card, most multi card readers accept CF's these days

Try a new cable. I have always pulled my cards and used a card reader, I have several friends that have had issues loading from the camera so I never got in that habit. Multi card readers can be found for $10-$15

Best Buy, Fry's, Walmart etc.

Card readers are dirt cheap.  Good Guys, Walmart, Target etc.

Here's one, seems a little pricey, I haven't figured out why though:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26%23153%3B---USB-2.0-All-In-One-Memory-Card-Reader/3152084.p?id=1218382969447&skuId=3152084

Just make sure it's CF compatible.  Should be able to get one for about $16.

My 400D has a CF card. Are you saying that loading from the camera causes premature wear or eventually ruins something? $10-15 for a card reader is definitely cheaper than a new camera but I've been using the cable for the camera for years without problems.  :dunno:
