Canon problems!

Try a new cable. I have always pulled my cards and used a card reader, I have several friends that have had issues loading from the camera so I never got in that habit. Multi card readers can be found for $10-$15

My 400D has a CF card. Are you saying that loading from the camera causes premature wear or eventually ruins something? $10-15 for a card reader is definitely cheaper than a new camera but I've been using the cable for the camera for years without problems. 

I've had friends lose all their images while transfering from the camera, some have had power spikes while transfering that took out systems in the camera.

Shouldn't be an issue with wear.  I've noticed it myself, my computer(s) wont recognize the hard wired USB connection to several cameras.  But sometimes they do.

But every computer seem to recognize a card reader.

Good point, you guys may check to see if your camera firmware is up to date as well.

A flash card reader is The Only Way To Fly! They are cheap to buy and ther are way faster to use!

I got my card reader and it worked. Thanks for all the helps guys!
