Just looked at the regs, I think hunt 7015, Monroe, ends on 5/31.

Better hit that forest hard!!

It's listed as may 31 in the regs but it was extended to June 15 and communicated when the permits were sent.

Fawns are dropping.  Might want to consider doing a little calling if you get a chance.  Might pull one to you.
:yeah: I haven't got any fawns on cameras yet, but have found 2 different sets of tiny fawn tracks. I'm gonna really give that (calling) a try this weekend.

Before the bridge...on the left....that is where the cool buck was hanging out with the FJ on Monday. Some area that needs to be further explored after the bridge on the left.
I was drawn back on what I thought was a deer, that turned out to be a bear at about 20yds. That was on the road your talking about. Follow it all the way back to the end. I uused to have a trail cut in that would put you on the rock face looking back over the cut, and bridge. Sure trail needs to be trimmed back up..........Good bear spot.

I've been in there and had a cam up in there (as well as seen a couple other's cams).  It's nice, good water access and lots of huckleberries and blackberries!  If you are heading out there lemme know, I think I left a folding chair up there last late archery season...   :bash:
Your chair is still there :chuckle: I found it a couple months ago while shed hunting. The one I found is on the road that goes to the left right before the bridge. By the old rock pit.......Found my only shed for this year there.

Yep....last years bear was shot with the Hornady Interlock....it did a hell of a job. However, as you know, they are designed to come apart. This year the brush is already thick and lush. With wet conditions and the green growing by the foot per week I want to put Mr. Bear down DRT. I'm looking for that high shoulder drop 'em where they stand broadside shot. The Barnes will give me max penetration.

I'm pretty sure the only bullet that MIGHT not work great to kill a bear around here under 300 yards where most all shots are taken from is a full metal jacket bullet.  Its not like we're hunting rhinos here, if you hit it where you're supposed to, any bullet that expands should work just fine.

"Blah blah, my bullet choice is better than yours, blah blah"

I use federal factory loads in whatever they have on the shelf at that point in time.  At shots under 200 yards i pattern inside 3" regardless and the area I'm aiming for is bigger than that.  Never had a problem.

Next up in the "my bullets are better than yours category": Exploding bear-buster (see: bunker buster) bullets for max penetration and expansion.

:yike:  :bdid: can he really say that bullets don't matter that much? :dunno:  (just did)
:yeah: Stang we speak the same language :chuckle:

Ha!  Nice!  Guess I better get my butt up there and pick it up!

I just read the thread about 92xj's girl killing a bear. I think it was mighty kind of you to let the women and children kill their bears before you shot yours. You are a good man!

What's the plan this 3 day weekend H20?

3 days of bear hunting, daylight to dark?

-vs-

Are you taking the wife back down to Willows or going kokanee fishing or going ling fishing?    :dunno:
