Jeeeesh. Thats horrible. Where was it tied up at? Your own dock or what. Ever think of building some kind of pontoon style shed for it?

Community dock.  Can't build boathouses out here, it's not a lake.   ;)

Just had a crazy wind change that caught me by surprise.  Also, our new dock bounces a lot more than the old one as it is lighter.  This may have contributed to the stern rope wearing through.  A lot of my gear floated and blew up on the beach.  I'll have to try to snag my three fishing rods when it gets moved.

So another interesting day on the island, winds out of the south strong but not horrible.  Had to go to Lopez and back so tied to the dock on my return.  Around noon, I guess, the wind switched to the west and picked up to 50+mph, unfortunately, where my house is, this wind direction is not very noticeable.  I went down this afternoon to find my new stealth boat.    :yike:   :bash:   :bash:   :bash:

I even had brand new ropes on bow and stern.   >:(  At least it didn't hit the beach that way, and it is insured.

So, anyone I promised ling or shrimp fishing to, there might be some issues.  At least I have the Trophy to get out of here if I need to.

So are you going to change your handle to unlucky dog? I just saw a high and dry boat post and now a wet and wild...my bad humor...good luck!

So did it just get tossed on the dock and roll off?  I'm trying to envision how it would roll.

Sorry about your boat, this way you can clean the bottom before it gets righted.

That sucks!  Is it possible that you had it tie too tightly to the dock?  That happened to me once.  I loaned my cousins my boat and they tied it really tight (storm coming in) and bow towards the bay.  The lines were so tight that it did not allow the boat to ride the waves causing the bow to submarine, filling the boat with water then flipping over.  You can flip it over in the water by running lines from bow to stern underneath and pulling it with another boat.

Now that sucks!!!!  Are they replacing the boat or trying to salvage this one?

They are going to total it.  That's fine for the hull, as all I have to do is pay salvage cost to get it back and rewire it myself, but the engine is only paid for at BlueBook value less $500 deductable (=$3940) which I don't get because we had $6000 on it.   :dunno:  The motor shop estimated starting at $5500 to repair it.   :(  I have to figure out a value for that Ming Vase that I used to hold my dodgers and those two solid gold downrigger balls that I lost... since there is coverage for unattached and personal items.

Sorry about your boat, this way you can clean the bottom before it gets righted.

I actually made the comment that it would be easy to powerwash the bottom now.

It comes out of the water tomorrow and into the shop.
