Are you able to pay for your fuel and other expenses selling the furs?

Those are some nice light colored coyotes I've been told that its really only th elight ones that are worth putting up.

Here are the results for January's auction:
http://www.furharvesters.com/results/2013/January/jan13us.pdf
When years are REALLY bad I don't sell my skins I just end up getting them tanned and give them out as presents. Past few years the prices have been really good, the best I've gotten for a skin was $75, the worst was $30. A couple of years ago I had 15 pelts that averaged $69per.
These pelts are headed for May's auction, hopefully the prices will hold. It pays for some of my expenses but definitely not all! That's why I only shoot prime pelts (from late October to early February) and I take great pains to clean and flesh them correctly. It usually shows in the checks they cut me!
I'll keep you guys updated on the prices I get.

Nice job on the coyotes. Good to see someone that makes use of the coyotes they kill.

Those look great, what do you do(how do you store them) after you flesh and clean them before the auctions?

I usually hunt coyotes from Mid October to early to mid February, I'll skin them out in the field and ball up the pelt into a plastic garbage bag and then put them into the freezer. By February I'll start putting up the pelts so after they dry I'll start hanging them in a spare room. But any place cool dry place away from bugs and mice will do. Since I wash them pretty well there is rarely any smell.

Thanks!
These were are Eastern Washington coyotes, all called in and shot from early November to middle of February. Also I take great care in handling and putting up the skins.

Very nice prices, I would be happy with that! I didn't think there were any coyotes in Washington worth that much.
