She didn't say what the gun was in this thread, but she did in the thread where she was looking for ammo. It was a Sig Sauer P224 in 40 S&W. There were 7 of them on gunbroker tonight. Low price was $899, high was over $1100.

Hope this all works out. The thing that  gets me is the ptb never allow or show how were to repeal these kinds of things, but they can just smack us around making us jump through hoops but they don't. Tin foil statement again I've read and heard certain people or ptb are enfocing things as they exist even though a law hasn't been made yet, but who knows.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

My comment the difference in "Delayed" and "Denied" was not pointed at any person just bringing it up for clarification, more then one person on here has said they know someone that was "denied" and then picked up the gun later. This does not happen if you are denied you start all over.

Many people get delayed even if you have a CPL you can get a delay, this just means you have to wait up to 30 days for the gun to get released.
When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

My buddy had to turn it his pistol after a couple of day.  He bought a new pistol and waited the 10 days. The feds never called back so they called him and said come and get it. We went out that day and shoot the crap out of it. A day or so later the store called and said to bring it back? He was denied? My buddy said do I have to. The store mananger said yes and he is a state Patral office to. So my buddy droped it off and got his money back. He called the sheriffs office and found out he had a warrant for his arrest? Say what? It was from 10 years ago in high school for fighting/not showing up for the count date. LOL  He moved and never know. He went to the court house and payed the fines and now can buy again.

It's not a P224 or a 40 S&W, but it is local to you and maybe an option (at least you wouldn't have to transfer it):

Check out the classifieds:

If you were DENIED you willnot be ably to purchase any firearms thru a ffl. You will only be able to buy from private party. You will have to clear up thru NICS the FBI. Cabelas should have given you a ntn #. Youcan email apeal. This happened to me just before Christmas and I'm still trying to clear up. They are 4 months behind so you will not be buying any time soon. NICS isn't take calls either. I was told it was because a domestic violence case that was dismissed in 1994 had to send fingerprints and court documents to prove my innocent. Still waiting and there voice mail says they are on appeals from November 2012. Good luck

No fromwhat i hear and have read he should not have, for if not denied after a certain time the sale goes through. Thats what ive read. but glad it worked out.

I read that after 5 days with no NICS response, the dealer may proceed with the sale.  That does not get the buyer off the hook if the NICS comes back after 6 days with a denial.  I am not sure what the legal ramifications are for the dealer, but I would not want to be the buyer with a paper trail and a denied NICS check.

If you are denied by NCIC check, doesn't that mean that you can't legally purchase a firearm at all/through any source until the issue is cleared up and you no longer show denied in the NCIC database??

That is a good question.  I would assume that if there is no legitimate reason why one can't legally own a pistol, then that person should be able to buy one where the NCIC check is not being performed (private party).  (Assuming it is just some bureaucratic screw up that causes the delay..........)   :dunno:

If there is no legimate reason that prevents someone from purchasing/owning a firearm, then it stands to reason they should pass the FFL NCIC check...yes???

Isn't the intent of the background check to weed out people who are not supposed to get firerms, IE felons, for example.  Yet nothing stops that same felon from buying from a private party....

My thought/question is, if denied by NCIC, and then for whatever reason, at a later date, found with a firearm, what are the potential problems then??  If right or wrong, they have already said you can't buy one, commonsense says then you can't have one period.  Yes - no?  At least until you have run the appeals process and gotten an error corrected.
