Heard some of the more experienced guides are getting limits on the hook recently!

Just in time for a Friday closure. Wonder were we are at with the quota and how long it will take to re-open?

Ill be out Friday with Clancy. Full report to follow......

Great day on the water with Ron. Great fisherman, great fun and limits for our boat. Saw maybe 5 others caught between other boats.
Ron's secret sauce and wraps kicked butt!

Coincidence? I think not! They have done the exact same thing on the lower Columbia for sturgeon for years now.

Just when it starts to heat up, figure they will open it soon, since catch rate was not very high.  Hoping it is quick as I didn't get my Springer fix as of yet...

Sounds like theres a pretty good chance they will extend it. I believe there is a meeting today to decide whether or not to keep it open hopefully they will. I was in bobs yesterday and they said even tho it was closed for the nets yesterday that they didnt go in.

There saving there days for better fishing if they can?

From Feb. 1-March 24, 2013 an estimated 30,900 angler trips have produced 784 adult Chinook kept (216 lower river and 568 upper river based on Visual Stock Identification) and 243 released.  The 2013 pre-season expectations for the entire season were 6,100 adult Chinook kept (all stocks) from 63,500 angler trips.

Here is an idea for the people at fish and game close the lower river and leave it alone until they start seeing good numbers of fish crossing the dam.

Now people may not like this idea but if they would stick with the original closure date and then reopen it after they start seeing good numbers cross the dam it would benefit both upriver user groups and down river user groups. Further more the lower river user group would not eat up their ESA impact % and they would be able to fish longer with more fish in the river.

By the way those who do get the chance to go out GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! WACK'EM N STACK'EM!!!!!!!!!!!

Where were you guys going to be fishing? The Big C was like a giant lake all day long on Friday down in Cathlamet.

We cancelled two days of fishing (last Thur-Fri) for the same reason. Can't justify the $$ spent for bad weather and slim odds. Gonna try to get a day in on Wednesday, if not its turkey time!

How did Cathlamet fish? Heard some mixed reports from the weekend, can't say that I regret not going though.

I knew Clifton and such would be calm. Always is there until the crossing back to Skamokawa.

All he has said was Longview for a launch.  :dunno: Either way, the closer we get to the middle of the month the better I say.

Yeah, it was flat from longview all the way down. Yesterday was a different story though. Lots of fish being hooked in the lower river the last week...

We went 2-4 fishing Friday evening and Saturday morning, and a lot of my other buddies were getting limits.

I heard this year will be the last year that anyone can actually retain sturgeon, then anytime after they will only be catch and release.
Any truth in that?

Heard cathlemet was good, except I stayed up in Kalama...  Saw three fish.. Checker reported 1 in 7 boat average at Kalama boat ramp.  We had one unbutton really quickly...  Didn't guide do well either.  Thank goodness for full top as the rains surely came down....

Checking reports from around sounds like it was decent from Longview down. Portco kicked out a few too. Things are picking up!

Only seen a couple caught down low yesterday for about 30 boats. Buddy lost a dandy. Would have been his first. Little windy but fishable.
