Its been a year...
« on: April 16, 2013, 10:15:54 PM »
... since my son passed away  :'( Still feels like yesterday.  Im sure a few saw my post a few weeks ago searching for a florist who could make a wreath and a cross, and. I was overwhelmed with everyones support and willingness to help and feel blessed to be part of the huntwa community. Well my mother inlaw wanted to make the cross and wreath and we said ok. One night a little bulb clicked in my head and I had a bright idea to build a frame for the floral cross. It turned out to be my proudest and most sentimental project I ever did in my life. Wood is not a very familiar medium for me as I usually build with metal or fiberglass. Probably the most accomplished ive felt in a long while. Please excuse the large pictures since I upload to photobucket straight from my phone.

After some staining with minwax gunstock color

After sanding and clearcoat

And this is after my mother inlaw put the flowers in it. I made it specially to fit the floral foam blocks exactly with some slight trimming. The 3 flowers represent one for each of my children.
