Weyerhauser Charging
« on: April 30, 2013, 10:37:34 AM »
I received a message from the WDFW today that some of my permits were applied for in areas that Weyerhauser has land. I hunt sometimes in GMU 506 and they are saying that they may begin charging for access. Anybody know how I can find out what areas they are charging for access ??

Neither of those are in 506 are they??

I am wondering how to find out what areas in Willapa Hills and the other Units that they referenced in the email are charging and were to find info about the fee and access??

I think pretty much all Weyerhaeuser land in 506 and 530 will require the access permit.

The other issue w this is for those of us who have applied for permits in those units and if drawn now are dealing w the dilemma of whether they are able to get their hands on one of those access permits! Also having never purchased one, are they only valud for one person or one vehicle??

The affected GMU's all have other land to hunt besides Weyerhaeuser. But I could see a problem if St Helens tree farm becomes a fee hunting area.

true, vail is going to be a tough one also. it does seem that the wdfw has most of their permit hunting in the boisfort/pe ell area on sierra pacific land anymore though. Lincoln creek area permits are usually the whole gmu, which has a fair amount of st land.

WDFW sent me an email warning me that they are charging for access and if you can't secure access or plan on hunting outside the tree farms don't apply. WDFW won't do squat for you if you apply get drawn and cant get a permit. Funny part is the web site to purchase won't be up until June 1 according to Weyer web site and permits are due May 22nd. Sounds like alot of Weyer employees will be drawing permits! :bash:
Shut up and Hunt!

The only time I hunt 530 is during late archery, I guess I won't be doing that anymore... No way I'm going to pay that amount of money to hunt a couple of days. I think it will keep a lot of hunters from hunting there.
