What to put in for?
« on: May 14, 2013, 08:14:42 AM »
OK, so I have 19 points going into the draw and am trying to decide what two choices I should put in for in the quality bull tag.  I have been doing a lot of research and have some ideas, I am just looking to get a few more opinions.  I am going to be putting in for rifle tags in the Blues and have the choices narrowed down to the Wenahas, Tucannon and Dayton.  I am aware of  private land issues, the ruggedness of the ground and I am considering a drop camp if I draw a unit other than Dayton.  I live out on the coast, so I have not spent much time in the Blues.   I have bear hunted East Wenaha a few years ago and will be back there bear hunting in a few weeks.  I am not looking for any kind of free info or people's honey holes, i am just having a tough time trying to pick two out of those four units and just want to throw a question out there to the forum in order to get some more opinions. If you want to respond by PM, that would be great.  Thanks for your time.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those units. With some work and a little bit of luck, you should be able to pull a nice bull out of all of those. If it were me, I would go Dayton then Tucannon.

That is kind of where I am at right now.  I don't think one can go wrong with any of them either.  Just hoping to get a few more opinions to aide my decision.  Even with a lot of points I know drawing isn't a sure thing, but I just want to try and make the best choices I can.

The really big bules were all killed in the wenaha and the tucannon last year. The big double drop tine was killed in the wenaha.

Here is the Thread for that bull.

I have 18 points and know exactly how you feel. I've been putting in for the tucannon and wenaha muzzy for years but now they only are giving out 2 tags. 5 days to go and I'm not sure anymore what to put in for. They number of bulls killed last year was down, that's part of the reason for the drop in tags. A drop camp would be a great adventure, good luck with what your choose. You must have caught a poacher, I've been waiting a long 18 years for a blues tag, again good luck in the draw.
