We have only ever caught one at the cow.  Do they run up the nooch?

There has been somewhat of a debate about that. For years the state has claimed no springers in the Nooch. Many anglers say different. I think the dam probably had a big negative impact. But I have seen a few. I think it is probably a small remnant run, but believe they are there.

Since there is a small population in the halis those fish could be strays also :dunno: any reports of them in the SOP? Curious...

i've talked to more than one old timer who has claimed to have caught them in the upper wynoochee before the dam went in.  there are a lot of deep holes i could imagine them stacking in if they were around.   when's the last time any of you have caught a fall king in the nooch either?
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

So whats the best way to catch them without a boat? shrimp or smelt under a slip bobber?

Interesting discussion on that very topic here http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/636786/Satsop_River_Spring_Chinook.html

I'm sure you're familiar with that discussion board...
