Scouting and Fire Danger
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:53:53 PM »
I have hunted Minot Peak and North River Units the last two years during archery. I have a bit more time to scout this year and planned to do some Scouting in those Units in July and August. What do you think the chances are that the Private Timber Land will be locked up for Fire Danger???

Best guess would dependent on the amount of rain and the amount of summer heat.
Real hard to predict the weather.

The Aberdeen area gets shut down less than other areas. The last couple of years, fire closures didn't start until about one week into September.

 :yeah:

And often times somehow even after a weeks worth of rain, increased humidity, and IFPL levels dropped back down, a lot of times the fire danger signs manage stay up on certain gates right into the early archery season . . . Often wonder how many of the security guys or whoever these companies have in charge of the signage are rifle hunters.  :dunno:  :bash:
