i got a phone call from a friend last night. they were hunting a canyon in klickitat where i told them there wasnt alot pressure but there were some cougars and to be careful .
there morning hunt they saw some deer and and cat with kittens they didnt have spots but they missed .then for the evening hunt they hunt down low in the canyon and found parts of deer in and around a tree .they were on there out and then the cat was screaming between them and the truck with just a little flash light they were nervous about leaving the open hillside and going into the timber .so they called me and i thought they were crazy but there eyes going back and forth in the trees and they were shooting there guns but it wouldnt leave so i called the game dept. he met me out there .when we had them on the phone the eyes were coming at them and they shot. then we went down and got them and got them out ..it almost sounds like that stalked and was waiting for them im going to to do a little calling tonight and see if i can get it

That would be cool. Sounds like they need to settle their nerves a bit.

You know Saturday morning while glassing a ridge I thought I was hearing cougar screams as well. It went on for about 5 minutes and then stopped.

That would scare the hell out of me
. I grew up and still hunt in Goldendale. I have heard that we are getting more and more sighting in and around the Goldendale Area. I have a cougar tag so if anyone wants a hunting partner to go get some kittys let me know.

Yes there are plenty of cats in that area. This spring I took a friend in the Goldendale area, its his first season in Wa, and he has never seen alot of game we have here. I told him how every year we have a turkey just come walking through camp... He thought I was pulling his left nut, until right around sunset we are getting a fire started and low and behold a hen comes walking through like she was the queen herself. He just sat there and looked at me and shook his head.
About 1 hour later we are talking about critters, and he asked about "them Cats" no more than 5 seconds later We hear the loudest scream ever. He said what the F was that ! I bust out laughing ! He said what ! I said I dont know how you do it, but that right there was a Cat. And the fun began. This cat was about 100 yards off, and crying it damn head off. It would continue for better than 20 minutes ! At one point it sounded a little closer and Greg started beating feet to the truck, as I started laughing harder. I told him it was way over there, just as it stopped and we didnt hear it for about 35 seconds. Thats when we both ended up in the truck! So I rolled down the windows and we continued to listen to this cat scream !
I was dark, and we never did see it. It eventually stopped and moved on. The next morning we looked all around camp for tracks with no avail. It must have been only a 100 yards off in the timber.
I am working in the Goldendale area right now and have rifle and tag daily, if there is a land owner with a cat problem that you know of and he wants it removed, dont hesitate to call !

I know that there is a cat running around the Goodnoe Hill Area. When they where putting in the substation in the workers saw a cat quite a few times. I also have heard that people have seen them above the old Aluminum Plant off HWY 14. There is some school land out that way.

Growing up, we didnt have indoor plumbing until I was about 13. One night im out in the ole 2-holer and behind it a cat screams.
Needless to say, I had no trouble going to the bathroom at that point.
It was about 45min before I got up enough courage to run back to the house. Dad asks "WTH happened to you, you fall in?"
