Best bow sight
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:43:44 AM »
I am thinking about getting a new sight for my Mathews Dxt.  I would prefer that the sight has 7 pins.  I am just curious what sight you guys would recommend.

My friends & I all use the Spott Hogg. It comes in various sizes including seven pin. :twocents:

Two words... Spot Hogg!  They make some of the best sights on the market IMO.  Very strong, and durable.  I use a SDP Wrapped (Seven Deadly Pins).  I will be shooting the 7 pin wrapped sight this upcoming year in a hogg it though...

I use a hogg it 7 pin with wrap.......really well built and and very accurate.  I drug it through some serious brush this year and had no fiber damage.

I have the Spott Hogg SDP and love it, my dad and brother has a Tru Glo seven pin and they are happy with thiers as well. I only use the top three pins for hunting. The other five are for 3D shoots that we do in the off season. I have seen people that will set up sights with pins every 5 yards, with the slower bows the gapping isn't that tight.

Seven pins!!??  How far are you planning on shooting?

The extra pins are so I can shoot a target further out. I feel that when I practice futher out then when I would shoot at an animal, that it helps me when I am closer.

I was leaning towards the spot hogg.  Spot hogg has a lot of sights. I guess now I need to decide on which one.

Hogg it 7 pin, 7 pin hunter hogg it, or the 7 deadly pins micro adjust.

The hogg it 7 pin has several pin options including two fiber optic pin sizes (.019 or .029), aluminum pins, or the new always-bright tritium pin. The round aluminum pin guard also available in two sizes (2" or 2 3/8").  What options would I choose for this one?

Thanks for all your help....

Wow!  I was just curious, it wasn't a put down.  Most of the hunters I know use two or three pins, I'd never heard of someone using seven, no big deal...just an honest question.
Sorry to jump all over you  , I was just reading the ethical or unethical thread and it was pissin me off. Didnt mean to target you   :hello:

If your getting a wrapped 7 pin sight, go with .019 pins.  The .029's are too bright in my opinion and with a smaller pin it will cause you to focus more.  Or at least it does for me.  And if you get a 7 pin sight you'll have to go with the 2 3/8" pin gaurd as it's the only one they make.

Can't go wrong with Spot Hogg!! They will actually customize your SDP any way you want, I have my first two pins .029 next two .019 and the last three .010. You pay a little more but it was worth it IMO.

Love my 5 pin Spot Hogg....  Didn't feel the need for 7 pin, it kind of clogs up the sight....

Im not a fan of the spot hogg, they make a nice sight, I have one on my Pro Elite I use for indoors right now, but my vote is for the flashpoint ignite 7 pin by MBG....
