Disabled Hunter Help
« on: June 27, 2013, 12:06:57 AM »
My Uncle is a disabled hunter as well as a master hunter and is trying to get some info on a few different units. He is able to drive behind the gates but is wondering what might be the better area for him to try and find a cow. His walking is very limited so it either needs to be super flat land for him to walk a bit or has to be an area he can hope to find something from a landing or somewhere accesible by vehicle and then have me go down and do the work haha. He is looking at the 501 LINCOLN along with some other units.

I havent spent any time in the Lincoln, if any one has any info on that area for elk to help out a disabled hunter I would really appreciate it, so would he. PM if you dont want to post info for all to see.

Thanks!

Very few elk in the Lincoln unit. I would look elsewhere. Especially for a disabled hunter.

other areas he is able to apply for road access to are the Scatter Creek Wildlife Area in 667, the Tahoma Forest in 510 and the elbe hills of 654.

Any advice on which would be the best to put in for?

I would put in for the Skookumchuck area. Specifically the area at the end of Big Hanaford road

I respectfully disagree. (I'm a disabled hunter also and I have hunted GMU501 Lincoln every year since 2002).

Send me a PM w/your Uncle's contact info and will gladly act as his guide for hunting GMU 501 Lincoln & 672 Fall River.

The disabled area is the L1000 road. I've spent a lot of time in there and have never seen an elk track. I know there are a few elk in the general area, but they mostly feed in the private agricultural fields at night, and bed down in the timber during the day. I just think it would be nearly impossible to take an elk off this road system by road hunting.
