Meat Hangin!!!
« on: October 16, 2008, 09:56:30 PM »
Today me and two buddies went out deer hunting...  20 minutes into our walk at the head of the canyon we were going to hunt my buddy spots 3 deer below us... we quickly setup an observatory station ( 2 spotters and 2 sets of binos) and see that one of the bucks is a 1x2 with a possible eye guard... after looking at him through the spotter we know that he's legal (but just BARELY), my buddies settles up for the shot at 200 yards with a 30-30 and shoots... buck died 20 yards from where he got hit and we have an easy pack out!

No pics as of now, but we GROSS scored the buck at 29" and called a bunch of people telling them we shot a 29" buck.... lol we did tell them it was gross but most people didn't get the point... lol   It was a great hunt and can't wait to get in on more kills later this fall! lol

Ain't that the truth! lol
We got it back to my buddies, skinned it and cooked up the tenderloins and heart......  It was AWESOME!

Did you cape it?

No we didn't, I thought about it, but the deer was so young that the cape would look quite funny with a rack of any size mounted with it...

I'll see if I can't post up a picture of this thing... Pretty sure he's about the most unlucky 2 1/2 year old buck in the world...  genetically speaking! lol
