So what you're saying is that, from your camera experience, some of the times when guys think their pots have been raided, they're just pulling at an inopportune time?

Yep. Also.....the bait box that I used doesn't allow the crabs to really get into it much. That is good for the fact that it attracts them and the bait lasts longer. However, bait that is less accessible doesn't generate the frenzy or as long of interest that say a hanging flounder that is exposed and getting torn up.

What I need to do is get some new software so I can upload the entire clip in a sped up time lapse kind of deal. Then, you can see the whole soak.

Nice video.

First day of the season for us.  Eight legal size (21 total) in the one pot we dropped this morning on our way to town (11 hour soak), but two were softish and released.  No giants like opening day/week last year, all were between 6 1/4 and 6 1/2.

Fifteen crabs yesterday, gotta go check/pull in a while for today's haul.

Hard to keep them in one spot for a photo of yesterday's catch.

Here's what we got.  The last pot put us to 13 so we had to find the three lightest ones.

34 for me so far in area 8-2.  Have had a lot of irritating pulls this year to.  I have now pulled up at least a half dozen pots that were completely empty, no crab and no bait left and the bait boxes opened.  I have never experienced this before.  Anybody else seeing this?

Got 7 on Friday and ten yesterday for a total of forty so far this season.  Leaving the pots soak for the day, we'll see if we can get another ten this evening.

Ten more today for a total of fifty on the season.  My parents love crab so my dad was more than happy to go out with us to pull our two pots.

Nice haul there Loki! We crabbed off Lummi island a week ago and cooked up 122 in the 4 days we had the pots in. We did have 10 pots fishing and 40 of us up on the island for  the feast though. If you count the crab on my card, 15.

Wow!  122 is way too many to clean.

Weathergirl and the kids were up on Lummi last Tuesday visiting her sister in law.  She brought a bunch of crab to share with her mom and the gang.

We got 5 keepers (dungeness) just outside the launch at Chinook headed out to bouy 10. Dinner tonight. Great flavor but a little soft.
