Trouble uploading picture and updating profile

So i try to update my profile to show my age and location and what not and to upload a picture, everytime i try it the page loads for about 30 seconds (long for a page to load by my computers standards)  then a blank pages pops up and i have to close that tab, nothing else happens.  i even try leaving it up to see if something else loads up on the tab!  i have tried a number of times.  can somebody help?  MOD or ANYONE?

This is not likely a moderator or admin or forum problem. About 99% of the time people encounter this sort of issue when they don't bother to reduce the size of their images. That is your job. A good recommendation is below 1000x1000 pixels and or smaller than 1200kb for attachments. I would recommend even smaller for "profile pictures" as in less than about 300 kb.  The threshold for the forum is higher than that because if you have a good connection speed it can work for images larger than that.

Try making your pictures smaller before uploading them. It is more than likely your image is either too large to send across the internet connection from your location or the image being resized by the server is timing out because you are attempting to use an image which is too big.

There's a lot of ways to reduce the image before attempting to send it across the net and depending on your operating system it could be done differently. If you are using windows try using mspaint. Do a google search on how to reduce the image sizes with mspaint. I believe it would be something like this for windows xp for example : right click on file -> open with mspaint -> Image -> sketch/skew enter reduction in percentage for height and width and save to a new file name.

For macs you can use something like rapido resizer or even iphoto.

I also looked at your profile and the reason why your profile pic is not working is because you have not supplied a direct link to the image. When I click on that link it takes you to a page with many pictures. That would never work. I believe you should consider reading the help page as well as trying a direct link to a specific image.
