Oregon Elk
« on: July 12, 2013, 11:46:28 AM »
I live in southern California and will be making my trip back to Washington for archery elk in september. I will be driving up there and was thinking about making a 2 or 3 day hunt in oregon for elk. Never hunted elk in oregon before. Just curious what are the good areas to hunt hat are reasonably close to I-5. Any info will help. thanks

I am not sure if I would want to drop the $650 on non-resident license and tags to hunt 2-3 days but I wish I could.  :chuckle: We are hunting in Eastern Oregon this year so I am not much help but good luck if you do go.

Lots of private land on the west side of the state. Especially close to I-5. I would get on Bowsite.com and go to the Oregon area and check with those guys. Larry D. Jones and Cameron Haines hunt down there every year for rosies but I think they are mostly on private property. You may check into some of the timber company properties down there. Sorry I couldn't be more help. With Oregon's outrages price increase it is a lot of money just for a 2-3 day hunt.

If it were me I would skip Washington and only hunt Oregon. No sense in driving past good elk hunting just to get to mediocre elk hunting. I just think you'd be better off putting all your time and money into one hunt rather than two.

thats what i was thinking but i am joining some buddies in wa for our hunt and would be in oregon by myself. if i do get an elk down that alot of work for one guy. although doable i dont want to bite off more than i can chew.
