Camping around Cle elum
« on: July 18, 2013, 04:34:52 PM »
I'm looking for a good spot to camp around Cle elum.  I'm not looking for a formal campground.  We would like to be close to a river, stream or lake so my daughters have something to keep them cool.  Were looking for a quiet out of the way place with minimal other campers.  Any info is appreciated and pm's are fine.  Thank you in advance Cory

Kinda tough to find a quiet, out of the way place near water anywhere near Cle Elum. Too close to Seattle.

I agree with jackelope. Also note that I believe there is a burn ban going on in Kittitas county so I would make sure and verify that before you go so you don't have a fire and get in trouble.

I don't plan on having a fire.  I've camped at the top of lake Cle elum before and its fine as long as your there to party. My maps show some other primitive camp grounds around teanaway river.  I've just never been up there and didn't want any surprises towing my trailer.

North fork Teanaway River road has a lot of primitive camp spots, however, it also has a lot of primitive campers. I also don't think it's the best spot for a trailer, unless it's  a small one. You could try the 29 Pines campground, which is before the road gets to dirt and becomes narrow and windy.

at the intersection to go up the Middle Fork where the Firestation is, there is a state campground, you need a "discover your ass pass" to camp in there... they have ummmmm porta jon type toilets, it is close to the river..  Nice area.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Quite a few places along Taneum Ck that you could get by the creek and have easy trailer access and have plenty of elbow room to other campers.
