Some pics of modern deer season...
« on: October 20, 2008, 07:49:03 AM »
So, not the best modern deer season...but that is why it is called hunting.

Near the last day, my brother and I both saw two seperate hogs on 2 seperate hillsides...but were not to connect...which is ok I guess.  ;)

I was able to fill my doe tag, I used my bow on our property. Note that I did have hunters orange on, but was back at camp, and took it off for the pic.

I went down to our wooded area the day before opener real quick to see if I could spot a doe to stick...no luck..but I did jump a 2pt and 3pt whitey. Go figure...

This doe was shot at about 10 yards or so. She ran about 20 feet or so and piled up. Through the lungs for her...there was a spike and 2pt within 20-30 yards of me and we played cat and mouse for a bit...but I was unable to get a clear shot with the bow and wasnt wanting to really kill one of them,...still it would have been cool to kill 2 deer in the span of about 5 minutes.  ;)

Neighbors took a nice 4 pt (which I jumped earlier) and a dink 2 by 3 which I had seen as well.

My little bro called in and killed his first coyote...was a thrill for him...

I went 0-2 on the coyotes...although I did give one a very close shave...see the pic with the fir in it...note the bullet graze to the ground.

My other brother called in 5 yotes and a bear...missed the yote...only heard the bear barking at him.

We killed lots of grouse, got some shots a yotes, and I saw personally alot of muley bucks (2pts!) and several whiteys...just couldnt connect or passed on em cause of size.

Oh..and the white tail meat is AWESOME! Best deer I have ever had.

Enjoy the pics!

PS..the whitey shed was found by a buddy in a different area last year...just thought I would post it.

Great job, nice sheds... What general part of the state did you hunt in?
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Hey Saylean, whats your opinion on that game cart?

Well for this situation it worked like a charm...I shot the doe in the woods behind me...she was kind enough to run up out of the woods...up a 6 ft little rise and die in the field...then it was just a matter of getting the kart down there (from basically where the pic was taken)..hopping a ditch and loading her up.

I have used it to get other animals out of closed gates too (see pic). For the most part, it can be helpful, especially if you want something out whole, or have limited help, ie, hunt alone. It would be nice to have a third wheel upfront, like a wheel barrow (or a hand brake for going down steep hills)...but beggers cant be choosers... ;)

It isnt very expensive and it can save you time and energy, although not always useful.
