Help with an insert problem
«
on:

I got broadheads today was tightening one on to an arrow and the insert started to spin. It was tight enough that I can unscrew the head but had enough play to pull out 1/4". I glued back down with crazy glue because it was all I had on hand and it gardens before I got the insert all the way back in. Is that a problem or not?

Bring it into Sportsman's Warehouse in Federal Way. I can
usually
get them out. No charge, but no guarantee either.

What kind of glue was used to put them in? Id have them pulled and re glued if they are doing that. Nothing like losing a insert in your target and finding it with another arrow

He probably got his arrows from cabelas and they used Elmer's glue on the inserts.

i got them from Dick's. I only have an issue with one arrow it seems it didn't get glued in right since it just spun on me. but I glued it back in with krazy glue and it hardened before I could get it seated all the way so there is a small gap between the shaft and insert lip.

Get a drill bit that just fits into the shaft on the nock end. Now hold the arrow up and swing it towards the floor so the drill bit slides into the tip as hard as you can. This will take quite a few times but the drill bit will knock the insert out but point it in a safe direction as that insert and drill bit WILL come out at a high rate of speed
Good luck

getting it out was not an issue i was trying to figure out if a small gap was going to be a problem I still don't know but not important I just removed the insert came out with a bit of force and a field point in a vise with a little heat not enough to even get the shaft warm. I'm just going to get some glue that's not instant set any suggestions would be appreciated.

Epoxy is slow hotmelt is nice cause you can remove or turn the inserts with heat. The g5 glue isnt that fast.

I made a pretty handy contraption for removing old arrow inserts.
Im gonna make a thread and post it to this thread just for people who are curious.

ive lost 6 inserts in the last month alone. all in targets. not sure whats up . the nock point used hot melt glue but i have gold tips and they dont sell gold tips or gold tip inserts so think that might be the issue. went to outdoor emporium today to get three more inserts put in using gold tip inserts so well see now.

I spent the day shooting yesterday and had 4 more inserts fail. Took all my arrows back to Dick's to be repaired and they cut me a new set the guy said it looked like they were just pressed in. I was quite impressed by the way they made it right.
