I have a gitzo also. I am not a fan of the outdoorsman at all. Especially with the pistol grip head. My buddy has it and I would use the slik way before I would ever use the outdoorsman again.

just received my SLIK Pro 340EZ, can not wait to use it.  Although it is not ultra light weight(3.5lbs), it is only 19.5'' folded up and I thought whats the difference between 56lbs and 58lbs?  It's still too heavy.

I really like the outdoorsman with the pistol grip. It's the best I've used.

Outdoorsmans medium tripod w/pistol grip.  Works amazing with my binos and compact spotter but not the best setup for big glass.  Probably going to upgrade to their pan head.

I sent in my tripod back to Vortex and they fixed it for free.  Can't beat their warrantee. 

I really like my Vortex High Country but the SLIK might be a couple ounces lighter.

X2.   I love my vortex, but the adjustment knob popped off somewhere in the backcountry.  I had to use a pair of pliers to tighten it in place.

That's good to know, I'll keep an eye on mine now.
