Mudflow access
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:10:54 PM »
Does anyone know if the Mudflow (elk area 5099) is accessible right now?  I inquired about this today at 3 different agencies and received 3 different answers. First I called Olympia and they said according to their latest notes that the mudflow, Margaret and Toutle areas were not affected by the closure. Then I called the area manager for that area and he wasn't quite sure if "easement" road to the DNR land was open. A friend of mine thought I could access the DNR area of the Mudflow off of the 4200 road since they extended the boundary for it this year, which according to the Weyco hotline is before the closure of the 4100 line. I'm totally lost on this. I have a early archery cow tag for this area.

You can access the Mudflow via the 4200 road.

Thanks for the info.  I have never shot an elk before.  In fact I've hardly even seen one in the wild.  Hope I can control my nerves.

Instinct through repetitious training. Shoot your bow a lot. Shoot from sitting, leaning to the side, from around a tree, kneeling. Walk through the woods and shoot rotten stumps with a judo tip. Go to at least one 3-D shoot. Shooting a lot will build up strength and muscle memory, besides confidence. Make sure you're shooting your broadheads.
