Raining good now
« on: August 14, 2013, 06:27:35 PM »
Anyone else getting rain?  Thank god if you are this might end the closed to fire danger for elk season this year or at least prolong it.  How much rain do we need to keep the woods open?

Depends on the woods. I've never seen NF close. Not sure I've seen state forest close either. The rain would be nice. Keep it coming.

I think St. Helens is the only one closed.  Vail is still open and I believe Pe Ell is as well.

Raining in Vail now and has been since around 4 yesterday. For the last couple weeks there has been heavy dew in the mornings. It is dry, but nothing like the last couple years.

Ive never seen NF closed either, but last year the Nanum state forest was closed during early muzzy deer. That really sucked.

We could use some moisture over here in Central Washington. It is cloudy today but still supposed to hit about 92 and boy is it muggy!

The WDFW closed hunting season in the Methow once (modern rifle)that I can remember due to fire danger.  I will guess about 1981 or so, give or take a year.   I am saying WDFW only because I know the season was shutdown and assume they are the ones that would do that.   No big deal then because there was still a split season.  Even after the closure, there was more open hunting than there is now.  I assume at that time you probably could still hunt all three weapon types as well.

DTV? I went down that road once, hated every second of it, rain, wind, ice, snow, they all caused me to lose signal numerous times. Very happy cable customer now.

Been a lot of showers and some rain here off and on for the past week or so, if modern deer was opening this weekend instead of archery I bet the gates would be open for at least walk-in if not drive-in, being archery, I'm not holding my breath.

Had Dish for years.  Installed the system myself, and never lost signal due to rain or snowstorms.  Only thing that cut out my signal was when the wind blew the branches from my Oak tree in front of the dish...  :dunno:

My old Dish receiver died 4 years ago, and I cancelled TV.  Don't miss it a bit....

The only thing that puts the bees down is a hard frost.  Last year at the NCW Fair in Waterville, they put out Yellow Jacket Traps before and during the fair, and you could eat at the outside tables without being mobbed by Yellow Jackets.  This year, new management, no Yellow Jacket Traps, and the Yellow Jackets were miserable.  Lots of people got stung, too.
