Feeding issues? That sucks, seeing Lawton is out of buisness.

Yep, feed issues. Thought the problem might work itself out but it aint gunna happen. Not sure if its all related to the action or the way the detachable mag seats into the action. Either way its not cool.

I'll bet the mag isn't aligned with the rec'r properly. Are you using bottom metal or a chassis system?

What make of floor plate and mag?

There could be other issue. As in cartridge over all length. I've had issues with VLD style bullets seated long. Almost complete mag length having issues transitioning from the mag to the chamber due to friction or hanging up on the edges of the feed ramp.

Also on some set ups with the AICS mags, when the mag is set firmly in place the front edge of the mag makes contact with the edge of the case neck when chambering. One may need to debur the front edge of the mag or relieve it slightly with a dremel tool or some small hand files.

Is it scaring up your brass and bullet after you have feeding problems?

Mags came with the gun, some unmarked so unknown manufacture, some are a product of the manufacture. Im not ready to out the gun maker yet but maybe soon.

Some brass scaring yes, seems that the angle of the feed ramp to chamber may be to steep and catch's the round in the top of the mag, kind of pinching it. If the bolt is pulled back slightly then sent forward again the round goes home fine. Also very little tolerance on the distance from the nose of the round to the base of the feed ramp. Rounds have to be fully set to the rear of the mag or the nose of the round catches on the base of the feed ramp and its a no go on chambering.

Not much I can do on round length, using 168gr federal's.

Gunna try new mags before milling down the angle of the feed ramp.

I'm sure you know this, but if possible alter the cheapest part first

Is the bottom metal installed correctly? Sounds  as if the mag is a little to low when locked in place. This can accur when the bottom metal isn't properly installed at the right depth, bottom metal set shallow will not allowing the cartridge to be higher/ even to the feed ramp when chambering. I've seen this several times on customs rifles.

Ok, been busy. Finally back with pics. Figuring out some of the problem is the mag's. They pinch the round to long and dont allow it to flow into the chamber. The major problem is still getting the round seated all the way home on the first try. It stops about 1/4 shy and then leaves scaring marks on the brass in about the 4 or 5 oclock position. It appears the round is being pinched agaisnt the inside of the barrell. Thoughts?

was the mag designed for that cartridge?  Sounds like the round is leaving the mag too late, too far forward on the push feed.  If the round is larger in diameter than the round the mag is designed for it might take another 1/4" to pop out of the box and by then it is at an angle to catch in the chamber.  Feed lips might need adjustment.

What chassis/stock and are you using AI mags?

If you are using AI mags is the curved part of the mag(at the front) seated against the underside of the rec'r?

Honestly, it doesn't look like the rifle was set up properly.
