It was a good hunt......

I've only fished the derby a few years on and off....not sure how often the big one has come from the river but the guessing man in me says at least half the years. One year it was brute hooknose that was caught under the I5 bridge....on a dick nite.

You didn't happen to be in a blind with Eva and Barbour were you?   :IBCOOL:

Off year for me....

No, sadly, I was not in a blind with the lovely Eva. At least with me she would have a chance to "score".

No derby for me this year, did go out last saturday the 14th and boated a 12.5 coho....
Lost 2 more at the boat that were good sized also..

I will be out there. Good luck getting a spot, that sucks when you get bumped. My boat will more than likely be full the rest of the season. It's amazing how many friends you get when you have a boat!  :chuckle:

Couple things............there is no bromance......even if it was lovely seeing Drock yesterday evening when he stopped by and dropped off my arrow case.

Next....no elk for me this year. You can see a little blurb of a recap in one of the threads about being ready in the elk section.

Lastly..........I would not discount fishing the river for the derby. In the years past the big males that take the top prizes often come from the Snohomish....You just never know.

Were your ears burning or did someone page you?  :chuckle: I text you last time i was across the street to razz you about your boat and crab pots but i got nothing back :chuckle:

I'm definitely not discounting the snohomish river for silvers in the least. But my past experiences with the launches during the derby have made me really hesitate going that route, but it's my backup plan.

I'm just waiting for a pm inbound from someone here offering me a spot. You can attest i'm not a bad boat fishing partner, at least that's what you said after our kokanee trip.

Dang, first year with the new boat in the marina up there and I decide to go to Winthrop with the wife this weekend.  Oh well, will get some scouting time in anyway.  Been fishing waaaaayyyyyy too much anyway.  Lots of silvers in the salt yet as of last Saturday.  Make darned sure you have some herring with you this weekend.  We outfished every boat around us.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I'd fish with you anytime. Nah...my ears weren't burning...I just spend way to much time on here......

The crowds can be pretty crazy for the derby but it is such a different crowd than your typicall humpy run morning that it flows fairly well. When I've fished I've put in the day before, docked it, and slept on the boat both nights. Much easier that way.

Caught two limits tonight. Fish were deep all fish caught at 120-130 ft on the cables. Two nice 10 pounders

I have a buddy from work fishing the river today.

We always stick to the tried and true for the derby in the salt, assorted colors of hoochies and ace hi's, and combinations of the two. Of course some herring strips, and coho killers, bucktail, etc.

Weather may push us into the river on sunday though, if it gets too rough.

Went one for two last night.  80-85 on the cables, community holes.

Good luck out there tomorrow, fellas!

You talking herring strips or using whole herring? Taking my son on a friends boat for the derby I know it will be a zoo but the reports I keep seeing online are nothing short of amazing 30 boats checked yesterday at Everett with over 100 fish!
