Hey Guys--  Decided to hunt Idaho this year....all was going fine shooting and practicing with my sabots and nossler's(300gr) Sabot loader hooked me up :), when I realized that sabots are not legal in ID. So now I need to find a conical bullet that I can use. I'm hoping there is someone in the forum who has experience with this gun and knows of good bullet that fits correctly in the knight .54 cal wolverine. I have a Williams peep sight and I'm hoping that I don't have to entirely re-sight/adjust the sight, as I will be hunting both WA and ID this year. Thanks in advance!!

Finding a really accurate 54 cal. conical has always been a special chore for me.  There are 54 conical bullets on the market that shoot well in a lot of guns but finding them can sometimes be a problem.

One suggestion that I really do not like but the normally shoot very accurately are 'power belts'. If you are hunting deer the 295 lead power belt will do that job real well if you do not over power them - these really might be your quickest answer.

If you were going to do the Idaho thing long term - then further investigation is warranted.  If you are hunting elk more investigation is warranted, because I really think you need to go with a much heavier bullet that will require sight adjustment.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

I shop at trackofthewolf.com here is a link that might help. I shoot the 420 grn maxi ball, they shoot great out of my hawkens. Note I weighed the the slugs on my scale & they all averaged 440 grains.

My 54 likes 435 gr max hunters over 110 grains of pyrodex. Kinda old school compared to what everyone is using now but works well enough that I don't have any reason to switch to sabots.
