My Very First **Story Added**
« on: September 23, 2013, 06:58:29 AM »
I'll attach a story and pictures when I get back home

First red arrow.

*STORY*
Well I am new to archery this season and have had a blast.  Not to say I haven't experienced failure but I've learned a lot, especially patience, while trying to pattern bucks and hunt archery.

I had some really great bucks that I wanted to chase all early season and again in November but it sounds like I'll be deployed for October - December again this year so I wanted to get it done in September.

After a long, long morning in the treestand and nothing seen, I went still hunting all afternoon in my favorite spots.  I saw lots of deer including a small buck that I stalked to 50 yards but passed on, just a little fellow that will be much bigger in two years.

It got to be around 5:30 pm, it was rainy on the night of September 22nd.  I came to an old logging road and stumbled down the rocky bank onto the gravel...CRUNCH!  I hate making so much noise.  I look up and see this buck staring straight at me from 40 yards away.  I range him without thinking, just a reaction.  He bobs his head once, twice and takes two steps toward the downhill side and gives a short wheeze.  He can bound once and be lost in a thick jungle like only GMU 117 can offer.

I can tell he's about to bolt and before I realize it I'm at full draw, tucking the 40 pin right behind his shoulder, just at the bottom of his brisket.  SNAP!!!   :yike:  he loads his legs just in time to meet a Muzzy 100 in front of a Easton Axis 340.

He whirls and falls to the ground, blood pumping up into the air like a macabre fountain.  In ten seconds it was all over.

My first archery buck.  Thanks for reading.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
