After reading all the negativity on the raffle elk post I was hesitant to post this but thought surely no one can turn this into a negative , but we will see. A few months back I got a call from a happy dad who heard I might be able to help his son kill a big bull with the eastside incentive tag he had drawn for filing his hunter report on time. After meeting them and sharing some pics and stories, plans were made to put togethor a hunt after the archery season ended when he could hunt with a rifle. Since Ryan is just 12 years old and while he would have loved to skip weeks of school it was decided to put the experience of the hunt first rather than the score of the bull and try to get it done pretty quickly. We had a goal of 350 plus and mtcook was kind enough to let us use one of his basecamps to hunt out of for a few days. After I finished up on the archery hunt I was guiding for Dave I hiked over and met up with Ryan and his dad and a buddy of mine who had hiked into camp. It didnt take long to find this bull and Ryan put the smack down on him at 150 yards. Sure there are bigger bulls out there without a doubt but to this kid its the biggest bull he's ever laid his hands on and will treasure the hunt he had with his dad forever. In contrast to the raffle tag(which I have no gripe with) there wasnt a penny paid for this bull for guiding or the camp. Mtcook and I wanted to help this kid kill a bull and have the hunt of a lifetime and I think it ended up that way. Congratulations Ryan, you earned your bull!! nwhunter
