Gmu 448, 460
« on: October 14, 2013, 12:44:31 AM »
Hello all, new to the site and Washington hunting. Just wanted to get some info about a couple of gmu's that interest me. I drove around FN-41 off of the cascade loop highway tonight seems ok but not sure what I need to be looking for. I'm not looking for a trophy just trying to get some food for the freezer. Ill be hunting modern for deer not sure ill be prepared for this season but I am definitely going to hunt next season. Any help would be appreciated.

Deleted due to "I didn't know what I was talking about"  :dunno:

I have been hunting in that area with my son and step father. Looking forward to tomorrow morning.

Most of 460 is Hancock Tree Farm. You'll need a pass.

Tons and tons of 460 that is not part of the Hancock tree farm. Like, the majority of it.

Hit the Granite Falls area. Lots of gated roads where you can tromp up and hunt some clearcuts.

I wasn't aware of that. Just looking at the GMU maps and the Hancock map... they seem to be the same pretty much except for the exterior boundary and the county road up the middle. I'll double check my maps.

Thanks jackelope, after looking at the boundary map... with my eyes open this time...  :bash:

Guess I had never considered the N, W, and S areas due to homes and I have no answer for overlooking the E side. Guess I just fixated on what I was doing and called it good.

derk3687, are you going to be hunting Elk in 460 as well? I will be. Not 100% sure on the location yet.
