Way to go guys, really putting up some dogs.

Been really busy the last week or so with the holidays but I managed to get out with a buddy for a couple of days before Christmas.

The first stand I made a risky shot, and hit the dog low in the shoulder which led to a additional half mile tracking job but we finally managed to find him trying to swim the creek.

Managed to get 3 more that day.

Went out on the 23rd again with a buddy, we managed to add a few more to the pile.

Christmas Eve was a crummy fog filled day for the first part of the day, didn't clear up to early afternoon. I managed push through 9 stands and pull down some dogs...  The dog in the last photo is one of the whitest coyotes I have ever seen.  I didn't even know he was there, he was posed up on the south side of the draw where there was still a lot of frost.  As I was walking out he barked and ran 20 feet BANG FLOP! :IBCOOL:

Funny stuff right there!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted..If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job." I will not say it is simple, but the process is not all that complicated.
Get up at 1 o'clock in the morning, and plan to hunt till dark.
Pick the direction that you are going to travel.
Stop fill up the truck and grab a cup of coffee, maybe a McMuffin!  :dunno:
Head in the direction of your first stand, hoping there is no wind, or fog.
Start calling, hope something comes to the call.
Repeat that as many times as it takes to kill coyotes. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
I would love to tell you that it happens everytime, but I generally average a dog for every 3 to 4 stands.
Here lately  has been far more effective in the dark, then it is during the daylight, expecially with all of the fog we have had been having lately. The more stands you make the more coyote you kill.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Went out with my sons today for two quick stands and blew out two on the way in (driving to parking area) then on the way (walking) in to first stand blew one out. Tried calling it back or another with no luck! Walked to next stand and blew one out!!! No such luck for a shot with boys in front. O well. Tried the stand any way and nothing. So tonight we ran out for a quick look and found two! The first took off pretty quick and sat just beyond good light and the second stayed behind. My son took quick note of his location ( which I couldn't see from my spot) and a few seconds later he showed up for me! My son whistled and he stopped!! Bam!! Money!! I will post a pick in the morning as my current pic doesn't have my sign and it's a little nasty!!!
An end to a good day!
