deer bait when snow is about to fall
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:30:48 AM »
I am heading up tomorrow to the NE corner to hang a few stands and put up a few cameras. I am going to bring up some feed to put out in front of the cameras but can't decide what to get. There isn't any snow on the ground now but I am sure by the week of turkey day there will be. I was thinking just my normal stuff but not sure how productive it will be when it gets covered with snow. I considered trying to put it closer to trees and under a bit of cover but that will limit the places I can put my cameras. Thoughts?

I would try alfalfa and throw out some wet rations (mixed grain rolled in molasses) I don't think it will matter if covered in snow. My experience is they will still find it and devour it, if it even last that long.

I use Deer Acres Block only, alfalfa and wet cob and or corn. Since you're not close to feed every other day or two, those Deer Acres work great. The deer can't leave that block alone.

That's a name brand that everybody uses around here.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Trophy rock costs twice as much, last ten times longer, and works 100 times better for us...........plus most guys never notice them.   :twocents:

If you can leave the bails of alfalfa still bailed they last a lot longer that way.
