Any one hear about the guy who shot 2 bug bulls and 2 cows and a nice mule deer buck on Saturday, heard fish and wildlife got him but not sure what the story is,some guys from my camp seen 3 guys in cuffs on the side of the road!

TAG! I saw a F&W officers pickup parked with an empty trailer attached. Figured they were patrolling on quads. This was in 329. Maybe the trailer was to haul all the meat illegally taken.

KITCOM scanner traffic on Saturday had people arrested in the Colockum for hunting violations... they (WDFW) were asking for assistance to transport the arrested individuals to Kittitas County Jail. The Sheriff's Department did respond and assist, meeting WDFW where the pavement ends there....

That was all I heard.. I am sure we will hear more if this is as big as it sounds...

As for the accused.. if it really went down, you are a freaking moron for trying to poach 4 elk and a mule deer...on the opening day of elk season...

I thing stuff like this is a good reason to bring back public flogging. It is one thing to mistakenly shoot a small fork in true spike or the rare true accident but this was obviously a gross, blatant violation and deserves the maximum sentence.

Speaking of which, the max sentence needs some modifications. I would say a bit of jail time, fine per animal, loss of all property used during the "hunt", lifetime loss of hunting privileges, and felony type treatment of firearm rights would not be out of line...

already supposed to be that way..... liberal judges seem to ignore what the punishments should actually be...

Why do poachers see all the game? Theres a lot of hard huntin folks out there that don't fill tags and D-bags like these guys get into the elk. String'em up!

Wow! I just read the article and it said that only one spoke decent English. Wonder where they were from? It also said that they only took "some meat" off the buck and one cow.

Like has been said 1000 times, I hope they get the most severe penalties possible but I highly doubt they will.

yeah, judge will probably say that since WDFW didn't print the regs in ten languages that they are setting people up for this or something; and then give them their stuff back and let them off.

Unbelievable!!

I just read the article and that is a really nice buck for that area. At least around my cabin in 328 that would be a great buck, maybe in 329 that get that big all the time but not at my place, what a waste, made it through the general season ready for to spread his seed in November for future generations and some jack wagon takes him illegally out of season.

Punish them to the max.

I seem to remember being taught that ignorance of the law is not a defense. It seems like anymore that is exactly what it is. I bet if I accidentally crossed into one of the checkerboard unmarked private land areas around here and got caught ignorance would not get me off though.

It seems like cases like this are much more prevalent than they used to be, kind of like law breaking by kids under 18. They got smart and realized that as long as the offense is not heinous you just get a slap on the wrist and your record is sealed when you turn 18.

Was not there a thread on here recently about a group of guys stealing another's deer during general season and only one of them spoke English? Maybe it is a gang making the rounds...

The branched antler elk they shot was legal but they left it. Luckily the wardens got someone to tag. We also saw a bull on beacon ridge rd that just the head cut off. Right next to the rd. I was wondering what the dill with that one sad to see it rot in the sun!!!

I saw that bull on beacon ridge road on Sunday. There was a wildlife officer investigating the scene on my way up and when I came back down the head was cut off so I assume he took it for evidence. It was a small bull assuming maybe a 1x2.

There was a lot of 2x1 shot Saturday. This rule is setting up the hunter for failure. Most of the 2x1 I saw the second point was barely one inch long. Does anyone know the penelty for the 2x1. The branch antler that was legal had nice brow tines this was still a legal true spike but the guy thought he shot an illegal elk so he left it.

The article read that the guy who shot the buck had a valid elk tag why would that matter??? its not deer season and it wasn't mistaken for a spike elk?

I agree totally about shooting a deer and not an elk but this "True Spike deal " is unreal especially for hunters with out scopes you only have seconds to decside if it's legal or not. It's a deer not legal plain and simple .....

That's just wonderful. Are we offering hunters ed in Hmong now? Just watch, their lack of language comprehension is going to get them off. They "didn't know" because WDFW didn't provide the regulations in their native language. So it will be our fault in the end. What a crock.

And the BS statement about "not knowing" they couldn't shoot "those elk" really pisses me off. If you thought what you were doing was right, why would you cover up the carcasses?
