Weird encounter with a ID moose
« on: October 30, 2013, 06:54:23 AM »
My dad and myself were up chasing elk in N ID last weekend. We made it up to a small pond and as we were standing there chatting I notice just beyond my dad a large brown object move 10 yards away! at first it startled us as what is that!!  The moose just layed there for 30 min. We thougth it was injured as I got to 15 feet away and it continued to lay there and chew its cud. Another hunter came up,so I walked over and showed him he was in awe how close it was..then it just stood up and walked off as everything was fine :chuckle:  must of been tired ..wish I had my Canon with me!! Cool! Was in the brush on Saturday and came upon a cow about 15 yards until she pinned her ears back and I backed away quick like!  I'm sure the calf was somewhere close!

I'm pretty sure I have a pic of that same bull huntnnw. I came across it in the brush at 15 yards and it stood there and looked at me. I think he was resting up after chasing cows all month!
More phone pics .. not great quality.

That is a uncommon thing for Moose to do. I would of thought something was wrong as well.

A bull moose is king of the forest...  Most of the moose I have seen have been only mildly interested in me...
