Here's a strange search, it happened on the opening day of Elk season 2012 on the Cow-Mill Rd. My wife and I were driving down the road looking for a new spot when we were stopped by a woman walking our way. She said she and her boyfriend had an Elk down but, she got her truck stuck getting to the downed Elk. We picked her up and went to see how bad.....it was bad! After meeting the boyfriend we hiked back to the truck to give her a ride to town. As we get back to the truck a small herd crossed the road and I took a spike. My wife spent the better part of the day driving her around to get help. Nobody hunting would even talk to them. They finally made phone contact and she had some friends on the way. My wife and I got my Elk to the road a few hours later and loaded it up. As we were driving out, almost dark, we find her walking out so we pick her up. Her "friends" no-showed so we gave her a ride to Tieton where she made contact again with a family member. I think their names were "Matt and Kim" and had a white Dodge pick up. Since it happened during Elk season, I thought I'd post this here. Does anyone know these people and did they ever get the truck out with out incident? Thank you for any info. PS, there may be a moral to the story here? Had we not stopped to help, we would had never seen the Elk and had a shot! It pays to help out!
