Nikon Customer Service
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:25:16 PM »
Thought I would share my latest experience with having to deal with a sport optics manufacturer customer service.

In the middle of Sept. I gathered up all my gear and started going though it, getting ready for my hunts. I took out my range finder and checked to make sure the battery was ok, having packed it away last December. Pushed the button and it activated but would not display a number. Went outside and tried several more times but nothing.

The next day I called Nikon and got a hold of a tech, who ran me through the reset process and tried again, still nothing. He apologized and said I would have to send it to him, which sucked because I was hunting in a little more than a week.

I sent it in and borrowed my brothers for the trip.

On Monday I was out front working on my car and UPS pulled up and came running up the driveway with a box, signed and off he went. Nikon Customer Service on the outside so I open it right away. I had sent them my 3 year old 800 in realtree and to my surprise was a brand new 1200 in Realtree.

That's some pretty good customer service right there!!!

Took them about 6 weeks (mid Sept to last of October), to decide to send you a new one?

Glad they made it right, but that sounds kinda slow, or did you not send them in right away?  Or is that normal for Nikon?

I sent them a pair of Monarch's with the eyecup broke off. I had used them hard for several years. I really only wanted the eyecup replaced. But I received a pair of newer edition Monarch's instead. I still wouldn't expect them to replace though--free repairs only is still a nice service. Try getting that from a camera manufacturer.

It's the busiest time of the year. I think 6 weeks is acceptable. And no offense to Phool but he could have sent them in earlier, like August.
I think Nikon did just fine.

I sent them in right away, right in the busiest time of year, so I'm pretty happy with the turn around time.

Great to hear Nikon CS took good care of you. Just to give you an idea of how they went above and beyond to make you happy, the warranty on Rangefinder's is 1 year.

Guy's returning bino's for broken eye cups, let me know if you have an problemsor need assistance with the return.

Good to know, I kinda thought the time was probably working against you/them some.  Never dealt with them, but do like a couple of their scopes, so nice to know they stand behind their stuff.  Thanks!

Question for those who have sent things in for service, do you just box it up with a note explaining the problem and ship it off or do you have to send in a copy of a receipt or something to show you are original purchaser?

As always, send your product in with delivery confirmation. I believe you need a RA # for returns so you will need to call.
