Ccortez if your in the snohomish/marysville area, legally you will not be able to use a rifle for the yotes, you will have to use a shotgun & get them in close! Pg 81 in the big game regs.

Me an the old lady practiced up the other night because of the very same thing your talking about,packing up and getting way to close to the house.She's worried about the cats,I've got a kennell full of dogs that let us know when something is amiss.The other night a kai kai was 20 yards from our back door,the old lady was smoking on the back porch when the thing let out its howl in the back yard.So I set up a target at 55 paces in the field,made sure the .22 BLR was on target and then we waited for dark and whipped out the red eye,she shined and I shot............we are good to go,BRING IT!

I have a .204,.223 and a .243 also,but those are for eastside shooting.

The 20's with a 32 grain V-Max is good medicine for hide hunters.  Small entry hole, and no exit hole, but the insides look like they were worked over with a chainsaw.  In rural areas where noise is a factor, I hear the .25 caliber air rifles are ideal for coyotes.  Just make sure it has a shrouded barrel, or it will be as loud as a .22 LR!

Had the same problem when I lived in kitsap/ hood canel. Wake us up at night. .22 calibries. Shot out of my rem. nylon. Dead dog. Head shot.  Be safe, they won't cycle a long rifle or a ruger standard. Almost  as quiet as a silenced gun.  Less noise than a gamo .22

   CCI makes CB Shorts and CB Longs that are sub-sonic and quiet, too.  You can hear the firing pin hit, and all you hear is a "snap!"  I shoot them right out the front window, and the neighbors don't hear a thing.  Head shots on large critters are a must, or they'll run off....
