jamming semi autos

Ok my buddy shoots a versamax and I have not seen that jam at all.  My other friend shoots his Beretta and I think it only jammed once when I was around.  My stoeger jams from time to time but my Baikal hasn't jammed at all but I haven't shot it much as for my Mossy 935 doesn't jam with 3" or 3 1/2" but will with 2 3/4".

In two years my stoeger 3500 only jammed 1 time.  My 3 inch stoeger never jammed out of many many years. But my mossberg 935 jams every trip. It doesn't matter how clean it is how I oil or grease it, after a couple shots it jams. Consistently. The paint has worn so bad it was unreal. This is how it looked after the first season. My stoeger in two years still looks brand new. And it get used a lot. A lot as in 83 ducks last year as well as 20 this year and tons of target practice.
Here are a couple of paint wear spots.
The only good thing I like about this gun is how it patterns. It is so tight of a pattern birds just plain die when the gun does go off.

I have an 870 super mag and an 835 ultimag.  Still like my semi's..........

Browning. My silver has NEVER jammed, not once. I only clean it about once a year too.

I must be that nucklehead. I had a mossberg 500 that would drop shells out of the tube onto the boat floor from recoil of the first shot.
Can you tell I don't like mossberg anymore.

I must be a knucklehead too, because I sure like my Beretta.  Has it jammed?  Yep.  Has my 870 jammed?  Yep.

I don't know much about Mossberg's, but if it's jamming 6 out of 10 you obviously have something really wrong. 

Either it's not clean, a spring is really dirty or needs replaced, you're not lubricating it properly, or something is wrong in the gas system. 

What kind of jams are we talking?

Mossberg on their site some time ago stated not to shoot 2 3/4 in the above shotgun as it would not recycle properly. I think that statement has been removed. But my turkey hunting associates down south have proved to me that the gun was not designed for the 2 3/4 shells.

My problem has only been with the 3 and 3 1/2 inch shells. When I bought this gun and shot it the first time I noticed the forearm retainer had some pretty big chunks taken out of it but it still stayed in place and has never broke so never thought much of it. I just emailed mossberg again on the problem asking what there thoughts are on the problem. Mine jams in all sorts of ways and it's not right. After about 10 or 15 shots it gets really tight just sliding the action by hand. It seems that so much gas is going into the action it gums it up after the first sets of shots and will not function anymore.

They should fix that it is not normal. My friends  (an old model) has never jammed on him with 3 or 3 1/2 shells!

It's missing pieces and you're still shooting it?  What alleviates the tightness?   Cleaning?

I've shot hundreds of rounds through my Beretta without cleaning.  Send it back before something takes out a chunk of your hand.

I have a stoeger 2000 that I've shot for a couple seasons.  It has cases of shells through it, is often dirty, and has worked perfectly.

For waterfowl I shoot Beretta's and Baikal's the latter for my saltwater gun. The only non cycle I've had was with the Baikal using the Remington Hypersonic it sheared the tabs that retain the magazine spring. Simple fix 1/2 piece of wine bottle cork between the retainer cap and plug cap you are ready to go. And then I also shoot a Remington SP10 for teal and snipe  and geese. All have good and bad points just get one that fits and then work out the issues.

I shoot a benelli m2 and as much as i hate to admit it, it does jam once in a while. Usually when I dont clean it enough, or when i get it too wet and it is cold outside.

I shoot a Benelli SBEII.  I have experienced jams over it's life time.  It will eventually happen.  Some can be blamed on the gun, some on shells. Some on me not cleaning it.  I have notice some shells can really gum up or cause issues with auto loaders.  Every auto loader says their stuff will cycle everything on the market.  Great sales pitch.

The RIO steel shot, just dirties the crap out of auto loaders.  3-1/2" shells and hypersonic shells just beat on auto loaders, so eventually something will break, given enough shells through the gun.

Just know that it will jam at some point and you clear the gun and keep on going.  Hopefully you have lots of birds working your spread, so you don't think about the one that got away.

Lube the choke tube threads with a little copper anti-seize or some gun oil.

Can't lube with anything when the choke won't come out. I always lubed my chokes before shooting but that hypersonic loads are absolutely horrible on guns. They put a lot of pressure on parts and it's a gimmic when it says they don't.

I want to see a gun that is based on hypersonic 3-1/2" rounds tested.  Many of these guns base them off the thousands of rounds of dove loads they shoot or light loads.  Heavy duck loads start splitting the competition.  Guns just start taking a beating and things break. If you only shoot a case or less per season, you may not have any issues or a few shells per hunt.  Post this question on some of the spring snow goose hunt forums.  Some of those guys can shoot a half case in a morning.
