East side (Rimrock)
« on: November 06, 2008, 12:59:32 PM »
Looking for some advice for those of you that have spent a good amount of time in the Rimrock area.  My hunting party has always hunted on the west side.....and all of these pics of Rimrock and Goose Prarie have got me intersted in trying out this country.  Hunting looks good, but the country just looks beautiful.

I really know nothing about the area, other than the times driving through Packwood and White Pass and on by Rimrock Lake on the way to Yakima or Spokane.  Is a majority of the hunting north of Highway-12 or on the south side?  Some friends and I are considering going and just doing some camping up there in the spring and would like to check out some of the good hunting/fishing grounds if anyone can help guide us in the right direction.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a tag muzzleloader tag in 2007. It's steep and thick in much of the area. You can hunt low or up in the wilderness.   I spent most of my time in the wilderness area and seen or heard bulls everyday I hunted. I did not get one but that is my fault.

That is some quick responses.  The thick and steep doesn't detour us, we are very used to that from where we hunt.  Thanks for your input and thanks in advance to others that drop their  :twocents:

Are you fellas hiking in on game trails, driving in a ways and then hiking?  I see and have heard of alot of people use horses.  Camping areas? Been through there many a time on the hwy, just don't know the best route into some of these areas?  Would love to do some exploring and put some miles on the boots!!

Have gotten some general ideas of the area from this website, which by the way is unbelievably full of great people and knowledge, just trying to get steered in the right direction.  Been hunting the same area for 10-15 yrs. now and would love to put in for some tags and lock into some of those beauties you all are slaying.

South side has more roads I guess but not sure. There are wilderness areas on both sides. Pinegrass ridge can be OK sometimes. I don't really like the area because it is so dang thick :yike:

The goat rock wilderness in 364 is a great place to hunt if your ready to do some walking.
